When to choose which

Choose Aluminum when…

  • Thermal conductivity matters (heatsinks, enclosures).
  • Higher stiffness / strength at similar wall thickness is needed.
  • Corrosion resistance and mature recycling stream are priorities.

Choose Magnesium when…

  • Minimum mass is critical (≈35% lighter than aluminum).
  • Vibration damping and EMI shielding are beneficial.
  • Thin-wall, complex lightweight housings are required.
